May 21, 2020 Update

Once again, it has been a busy day.  Meetings all morning for me, and then taking a couple hours of vacation time to get tires and emissions testing on my car before the long weekend.  

CORONAVIRUS STATS

Nationally, the CDC reports 1,551,095 cases with 93,061 fatalities. 

Utah: 7,874 cases (up 164 from yesterday); 647 hospitalizations; 92 deaths (up 2 from yesterday)

Utah County:  1,592 cases (up 23 from yesterday); 92 hospitalizations; 13 deaths (no change since yesterday)

NEWS YOU CAN USE

• Our friends at UTA in Utah County had a fun idea for celebrating Superhero Day.
• Provo's Pioneer Village will be opening on Memorial Day at 5:00 p.m.  Social distancing rules will apply.  
• Read an excellent article about one of Provo's lesser known treasures.  The South Franklin Community Center is back in business as things begin to reopen.

Today, Mayor Kaufusi:

• Participated in Council Leadership Meeting
• Met with BYU
• Attended CCTS Executive Committee Meeting
• Had a meeting with individuals from Public Works
• Met on the Utah Lake Commission
• Ran a meeting with Utah County mayors and other county leaders discussing Covid-19 responses
• Attended a MAG Executive Council meeting

Two things today for your long weekend.  Cliff Strachan sent me a link to the first one.  No words can describe - and you have to turn the sound on.  

The second one just made me smile.  This is comic Jimmy Fallon doing his best impression of James Taylor with a very creative take on Carolina on My Mind - for a pandemic time period.
