September 22, 2020 Update

Happy first day of Fall!  I wish that was all that was going on today.  After seeing the news below about the Governor moving Provo and Orem back to the "orange level" of the pandemic response, we have been inundated with questions!  

CORONAVIRUS STATS

Nationally, the CDC reports 6,825,697 cases with 199,462 fatalities.

Utah:  65,044 cases (up 650 from yesterday); 3,550 hospitalizations; 443 deaths (up 2 from yesterday)

Utah County:  16,119 cases (up 291 from yesterday); 592 hospitalizations; 54 deaths (no change from yesterday)

NEWS YOU CAN USE

• In case you missed the governor's briefing, we have officially been moved to the "orange" or "moderate" risk level. Governor Herbert announced today that Provo and Orem specifically are being moved back to orange. For the detailed list of restrictions, see the newest Utah Leads Together version 4.0.
• Utah Valley Chamber has a new CEO and President, Curtis Blair. He has more than 25 years of experience in marketing, consulting and negotiation. He was also a business owner himself and opened a storefront for it, Frog Hair, in downtown Provo before selling the company.
• In case you haven't heard, Downtown Provo Inc. has created a downtown Mural Map and a downtown Restaurant Guide! They can be found at several locations downtown, including the Mayor's office, so come on by if you want a copy!

Today, Mayor Kaufusi:

• Held a meeting on the CARES Act
• Met with members from Administrative services
• Participated in the Utah County COVID-19 Economic Recovery Committee
• Held a meeting with her executive team
• Met on City contracts
• Met with key staff on the "yellow" to "orange" change and held subsequent interviews with the media
• Participated in a public gatherings committee meeting

FUN STUFF

Today, if you are like me, it is good to have a moment to decompress and think about things that are more important than the urgency of the moment.  This little video from Utah's own One Voice Children's Choir was a moment like that for me yesterday when it popped up on my social media feed.  Sit back and enjoy and remember the most important things in life - not just how we all feel about today's issues.
