May 28, 2020 Update

Good evening, fellow city employees!  It has been a VERY busy week, which is I guess what happens when we try to cram four days worth of work into three.  

CORONAVIRUS STATS

Nationally, the CDC reports 1,698,523 cases with 100,446 fatalities.

Utah:  8921 cases; 734 hospitalizations; 106 deaths (up 1 from yesterday)

Utah County:  1777 cases; 99 hospitalizations (up 1 from yesterday); 17 deaths

NEWS YOU CAN USE

• For those who have not yet received their federal stimulus payment, be aware that some are now going out in the form of a pre-paid debit card. The IRS states they are labeled "Money Network Cardholder Services". So if you see it, don't just throw it out.
• Want to rent a kayak or climbing equipment for some outdoor fun? The app "Yoodlize" is a way to rent anything you might need! Check it out at https://www.yoodlize.com/.
• New unemployment claims have declined for the 7th week in a row here in Utah as businesses continue to reopen.

THE MAYOR'S DAY

Today, Mayor Kaufusi:

• Had a meeting with members of the Parks and Recreation Department
• Met on the new City Center building 
• Ran the meeting with Utah County Mayors, Commissioners, and other state officials
• Met with a few members of the City Council
• Met with Parks and Sustainability Coordinator
