June 1, 2020 Update

I hope everyone had a good weekend.  Our team was a bit busy on Saturday afternoon and evening as we monitored the events involving protests in Salt Lake City and Provo related to the George Floyd incident last week in Minneapolis.  We are expecting more protest activity this week, so stay tuned and stay safe.

CORONAVIRUS STATS

Nationally, the CDC reports 1,787,680 cases with 104,396 fatalities.
Utah: 9999 cases; 789 hospitalizations; 113 deaths
Utah County:  1965 cases; 104 hospitalizations ; 17 deaths

NEWS YOU CAN USE

• Utah virtual races are gaining some traction among runners as reality races are canceled due to the pandemic.  
• Southern Utah is seeing a spike in hospitalizations due to Covid-19, reminding us that we are not out of the woods yet.  
• Provo City, along with Utah County, has entered a Census competition with Salt Lake County. Check out the video that the participating cities made:

• Met with the Assistant CAO
• Met with the Deputy Mayor
• Met with an individual from the Food and Care Coalition
