July 14th 2020 Update

Good afternoon all.  It has been a busy Tuesday in our office and around the city.  I become more and more appreciative of the work you all do.  Thanks so doing such a great job of serving our residents.

CORONAVIRUS STATS

Nationally, the CDC reports 3,355,457 cases with 135,235 fatalities.

Utah:  30,478 cases (up 448 from yesterday); 1,888 hospitalizations; 226 deaths (up 10 from yesterday)

Utah County:  5,560 cases (up 69 from yesterday); 280 hospitalizations; 29 deaths (up 1 from yesterday)

NEWS YOU CAN USE

• The Utah County Sheriff's Office has released an outline of acceptable and unacceptable activities during protests.
• There are multiple fires in Utah right now, and Fox 13 has compiled updates on all of them.
• Provo City School District has been sending our surveys on policies and procedures on school in the Fall, and are having a Board meeting tonight to discuss that and other issues. For information on it and the YouTube link to watch the meeting, click here.

Today, Mayor Kaufusi:

• Met with the Fire Chief
• Took a staff photo with 311
• Met with the Police Chief
• Met with the City Attorney
• Met with representatives from the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and Department of Heritage and Arts
• Represented Utah County in a Covid-19 Economic Recovery Committee Meeting
• Met with the executive team
• Had a meeting with UDOT
• Met with the Assistant CAO
• Met with the Advisory Committee
• Met wit the RDA Executive Committee

FUN STUFF

So now I am dating myself even more, but I grew up listening to music by Carole King and “You’ve Got a Friend” was pretty popular at high school dances in the day.  This recent socially distanced performance by The London Voices was pretty impressive to me and brought back fun memories.
