July 15th 2020 Update

Hope your Wednesday has been going well.  I got to spend my lunch hour in the dentist chair getting numbed for a filling.  But a little laughing gas can go a long way to making a day a tiny bit more tolerable.  :)



CORONAVIRUS STATS

Nationally, the CDC reports 3,416,428 cases with 135,991 fatalities.
Utah: 30,891 cases (up 413 from yesterday); 1,913 hospitalizations; 233 deaths (up 7 from yesterday)
Utah County:  5,637 cases (up 77 from yesterday); 282 hospitalizations; 30 deaths (up 1 from yesterday)

NEWS YOU CAN USE

  • Walmart and Sam's Club are the latest major retailers to require all customers to wear face coverings in its stores, a change that will take effect next week.
  • As of 3:00 pm today, Wilson Avenue residents in Eagle Mountain have been asked to evacuate due to Pole Canyon Fire.
  • We have a national  coin shortage, and in response the Federal Reserve established a U.S. Coin Task Force to "mitigate the effects of low coin inventories caused by the COVID-19 pandemic."
  • The chocolatiers at Provo's own "Taste" have created three new chocolate bars inspired by Explore Utah Valley’s vintage travel posters. They infused the chocolate with ingredients found and crafted in Utah County, including tart cherries and local honey. The initial trio of chocolate bars feature Mount Timpanogos, downtown Provo and the Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork.

FUN STUFF

My kids love their Alexas in their homes.  My granddaughter can say "Play Space Unicorn" and she dances around the room.  On the other hand, I am kind of addicted to Siri.  This video shows what happens when they get a little uppity with each other.  Enjoy!
