July 16th 2020 Update

Thanks to everyone who came to the Provo 360 Survivor Barbecue today!  We appreciate the fire department for their excellent culinary skill and for Provo 311 for being such great hosts and organizers!  It has been a massive project, and there is still lots to do, but we are LIVE with the bulk of the new applications!

CORONAVIRUS STATS

Today, Dr Angela Dunn spoke during a press release and added some important qualifying information to our numbers. First, antibody testing numbers have now been added to Utah's total numbers. Second, there has been delayed testing and results that were from cases earlier this month. Both those changes account for a 547 case increase that appears like a major one-day jump in numbers.

Nationally, the CDC reports 3,483,832 cases with 136,938 fatalities.

Utah:  31,845 cases (up 954 from yesterday); 1,956 hospitalizations; 234 deaths (up 1 from yesterday)

Utah County: 5,794 cases (up 157 from yesterday); 287 hospitalizations; 30 deaths (no change from yesterday)

NEWS YOU CAN USE

•  Moderna in partnership with the National Institutes of Health is starting to see positive data is emerging on a potential coronavirus vaccine. Healthy adults who were given the vaccine tolerated it generally well and all created neutralizing antibodies in response, according to interim results published in the New England Journal of Medicine on Tuesday. If the vaccine remains on track, Moderna states it will be able to deliver "approximately 500 million doses per year, and possibly up to 1 billion doses per year" starting in 2021.
• Some prominent figures in politics, entertainment and business appeared to have their Twitter accounts hacked Wednesday evening in a massive security breach perpetrated by actors running a bitcoin-related scam. The tweets said "I am giving back to my community. All bitcoin sent to the address below will be sent back doubled!"
• The accounts of former President Barack Obama, former Vice President Joe Biden, billionaire Bill Gates, rapper Kayne West, tech titan Elon Musk, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, investor Warren Buffett and many other high-profile figures appeared to be compromised. 
• Provo City now has a new website to help dispel rumors circulating around hot-topic issues, called Provo Rumor Stop. This will hopefully help mitigate the spread of false information surrounding information about Provo City.

• Met with the Economic Development Division Director
• Had a meeting with employees on the Solid Waste District Board
• Met with the City Council Chair
• Met with a few Utah County Commissioners
• Met about the CARES act
