December 1 2020 Update


I mentioned yesterday that we spent some quality time last week at our house decorating for Christmas.  Here are a couple of after-dark photos showing the front of our home, the garland on our stairway and our Christmas tree.  Just evidence that I was busy!







CORONAVIRUS STATS

Nationally, the CDC reports 13,447,627 cases with 267,302 fatalities.
Utah:  198,216 cases (up 2,510 from yesterday); 8,279 hospitalizations; 890 deaths (up 19 from yesterday)
Utah County:  49,539 cases (up 650 from yesterday); 1,454 hospitalizations;  141 deaths (up 8 from yesterday)

NEWS YOU CAN USE

  • Interested in finding some of the best Christmas lights displays in Utah?  KSL has an interactive map of some of the best - including downtown Provo and Pioneer Park! 
  • Utah lawmakers are moving forward with a bill that increases the severity of punishment for rioters. The goal, according to one lawmaker, is to protect the rights of individuals to protest while increasing "the penalty so that a person is detained for a longer period of time to get them off the street during a riot."
  • There is a push by the Utah State Legislature to change the name of Squaw Peak and other geographic areas with similar names.  ABC4 has a good news story about the proposal.
  • A bipartisan group of national legislators has proposed a new $900 billion stimulus bill.

  • Participated in  City Council Work meeting
  • Attended City Council meeting
