December 14 2020 Update

It is a good Monday today.  Contrary to projections, our state Covid-19 positive cases are coming down.  While there were certainly some "superspreader" Thanksgiving events, Utahns were heeding the warnings and made a difference in the growth of the virus.  Thanks to everyone who is taking precautions and keeping others in the community safer.

We also received word this morning that Provo's Utah Valley Hospital should be administering the first of the vaccine doses in Utah on Wednesday to health care workers.  We are seeing light at the end of the tunnel, but we are not out of the tunnel yet.  We have to keep being careful and following guidelines. That is how we will navigate more quickly to the end of the tunnel.

CORONAVIRUS STATS

Nationally, the CDC reports 16,113,148 cases with 298,266 fatalities.

Utah:  235,872 cases; 9,486 hospitalizations; 1,062 deaths

Utah County:  57,964 cases; 1,625 hospitalizations; 178 deaths

• Today is the day the Electoral College meets and casts their votes.
• The first COVID-19 vaccine was administered in the US this morning to an ICU nurse in New York.

FUN STUFF

This is a fascinating video about Google search trends in 2020.  It reminds us of what we have seen during this most unusual year, and how life has changed in significant ways.  The message is that we have to keep supporting one another through the coming months.  Maybe the one thing we have learned most from 2020 is the importance of connection.
