June 14, 2021 Update

Great to be back in the office today.  I told the Mayor that I had to come back to work to get a "rest."  We had family events last week that found us hosting family activities for 23 people on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, hosting our son and his family from Chicago all week, and then supervising 6 grandkids 24/7 from Friday morning until Sunday afternoon.  And I started at 7:00 this morning on a 90 minute Zoom call working on renewals for our excess liability insurance policy in an era of high profile ransomware cases and insurance companies not wanting to insure cities against police liability claims.

We are also hosting representatives from McWhinney Development today and tomorrow in Provo.  McWhinney was the successful firm in proposing to redevelop the City  Center block after we move into our new city hall next year.  They are in the midst of their due diligence period, and will be presenting to the City Council tomorrow on their plans and process.  We will also be asking the Council to authorize the Mayor to sign an Exclusive Right to Negotiate agreement to let them keep moving forward on feasibility and market analyses.

FUN STUFF

So Julie and I have an interesting June calendar.  Her birthday is on June 17 which is always within a few days of Father's Day.  This year the days are three days apart.  Thus, every year, we kind of share the Father's Day weekend.  So in her honor, and after a week full of family focus for the Parkers, I wanted to share this fun video about the superhero moms in our lives.  My partner is certainly a superhero in my book.

Once again, it is great to be back with all of you.  Thanks for all you have done and still do to make Provo such a great place for us - and all other parents in Provo - to raise a family.
