November 18 2021 Update

Well, it is the end of another work week for many of our city employees.  It has been a busy week for us.  Today, we celebrated that we are about T-minus 6 months until we will be moving into the new city hall and public safety building.  We talked about the sequencing of the move, and what we need to do prior to the move happening.

One thing you will see in the next few weeks is the installation of a new phone system, which will have citywide impact but is in preparation for the move.  The Mayor also reminded us that we need to be appropriately purging offices of documents that are past the retention schedules or possibly scanning or archiving lots of paper so we don't have to move boxes of paper.  We were also reminded that the time period between Christmas and New Years might be a good time to come to work while there are fewer interruptions when we could start the preparations.  And, if you have any questions about records retention, check with your department records expert or the city recorder's office for guidance.

Speaking of city recorders, last evening the Council approved the appointment of Heidi Pepinos as our new city recorder, replacing Amanda Ercanbrack after her selection as the customer service department director.  Heidi will be familiar to many of us as she has worked in customer service and in HR, and was one of our two designated deputy city recorders.  We're excited to welcome Heidi to her new role in the City!
