Julie and I have been watching with interest the severe weather off the coast of Louisiana, in part because our son Grant is assigned to the Coast Guard Cutter Glenn Harris there. Yesterday afternoon, the Coast Guard got a distress signal from a large vessel that had capsized 8 miles south of Grand Isle, Louisiana. So our son and his cutter crew, along with other Coast Guard assets and private vessels, responded and Grant's crew was able to rescue one of the six people rescued so far in the Gulf from the capsized boat. There are likely 12-13 others not yet found. These photos and this morning's news story from the rescue effort were posted on social media last night and this morning. I thought you might be interested and hoped you would indulge a proud dad moment.
