April 22 2021 Update

It has been a really nice day today - the first day of the Utah League of Cities and Towns conference, and we enjoyed an excellent keynote address by Harvard University Professor Arthur’s Brooks.  If you haven’t heard before from Arthur Brooks, you will want to.  He challenges his listeners to respond to political differences with love and compassion, rather than with contempt.   If you have an extra 6 minutes, you might want to watch this little video clip from Dr. Brooks that highlights a few of his ideas about how we can do better in our political dialog.




CORONAVIRUS STATS

Nationally, the CDC reports 31,602,676 cases with 565,613 fatalities.
Utah: 394,334 cases (up 472 from yesterday); 16,004 hospitalizations; 2,178 deaths (up 1 from yesterday)
Utah County: 94,641 cases (up 130 from yesterday); 2,583 hospitalizations; 374 deaths (no change from yesterday)

NEWS YOU CAN USE

  • Fox Business news is saying that Provo is a booming new tech utopia due to our latest Milken rating and the growth we have had.
  • The Utah Supreme Court is currently deliberating on the Utah Inland Port Authority lawsuit. This ruling will set a state-wide precedence for city and state authority.

OK - so this one warmed my heart a little.  Prom can be a big deal in high school and it is kind of prom season - even in the pandemic period.  So, check out this fun promposal.
